This easy technique works by tapping on points that correspond to Traditional Chinese Medicine acupoints found along the body’s meridians. Meridians are energy pathways that are linked to our organs, nervous system and brain.

It doesn’t matter how long you stay on any point. While it’s often most beneficial to use all the points, you’ll benefit from using any of them. You can tap through the points without words, simply by feeling into the issue you need support with. If you want to use words, there are suggestions below. This is a freestyle exercise, but if you are using words, I suggest starting with the grounding statement below. Identify the difficult feeling. For example, if your troubling feeling is “I feel unworthy”, this saying would go in the blank after “even though”. Tapping on Thymus Gland (heart center) “Even though ______, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”

*If this doesn’t feel completely true at this time, please replace it with something along the lines of “Even though_______, what would it feel like to deeply and completely love and accept myself?” Now we move through all the points.

Thymus Gland (Heart Center) Center of Top of Head Above Eyes Sides of Eyes Below Eyes Above Lips Below Lips Under Collarbone Under Arms Sides of Hands Tap Together Repeat Repeat the grounding statement as many times as you like. Then gather the feeling by saying “this ____” as you tap through. For example, if working with anger, “this anger.” Now tap through the points talking about how it makes you feel, give the adversarial voice a platform here. Dredge it all up! Optional Emotional Inquiry, Insert here if you feel it: Tap through again asking if the feeling has a message for you. Wait to receive it and say it out loud so it knows it has been heard. Thank it for the message. Tap through and ask yourself if you have a message back for it. If so, say it out loud. Then let the feeling know that you release it. Tap through with curiosity now, for example “what would it feel like if ______”, talk about how you want to be feel. End by rubbing the thymus, closing with your version of “I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”
